Math Error Analysis
This year we will strengthen our learning by analyzing mistakes made on assessments and determining how to fix these mistakes to avoid repeating them on future math problems. In class, I remind students that it is okay to make mistakes, and we can learn from them and use them as opportunities to “grow our brains.”
After each major assessment, students are expected to follow the steps on the “Error Analysis Guide” sheet to determine what errors they made and make a goal (and action plan) to learn from these mistakes. An example is included on the back of the “Error Analysis Guide” directions sheet for you and your child to reference during the activity. Everything your child needs to complete this activity is included in this packet.
